Everyone knows money is super dirty.
At work, I have to wash my hands immediately after handling change.
And yet, no matter how old, dirty, dented, or tarnished they are, coins still have value.
People can often be like coins.
Dirty and two-faced, old and tarnished, dented and flat.
But no matter what, they have value because they are made in God’s image, and his mark is upon them! (Luke 20:22-25)
Jesus also used coins as an analogy to represent His children. Luke 15:8-10 tells us the story of a woman who searched her entire house to find her lost silver coin; and when she found it, she threw a party!
“Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in heaven when a sinner repents.” (Luke 15:10)
So next time you’re feeling worthless, or meet someone who’s less than shiny, remember that everyone, including you, has value. Not just to me, but to God; and he rejoices every time another comes to him.
Until next time,
Lori
