Hey everyone! Today we have an interview with my friend and fellow writer, Addie Worms!
Hi Addie! Welcome to the blog!
Hi Lori, thank you for having me!
You are so welcome! So, tell us a little about yourself!
OK, I live on a farm in Southern Manitoba. I have a passion for chickens, writing, and working with fellow believers for Jesus’s glory. I realised my love for writing young, when I took some courses that had a mini fiction class. I loved writing stories, and depicting vivid scenes, like a movie in my head. Yeah, that is a bit about myself and my writing.
What are some of your goals for your writing future? Are you planning on pursuing publishing?
I personally don’t know if writing will be my whole career, I have so many other interests that I love equally to writing. I think that writing will definitely be a part of my plan, and I’m hoping I can publish some short stories and maybe a whole blown novel one day, but yeah, I don’t think it will be my career goal in life.
What is your favourite genre to write in? Is there a specific author that inspired you to write in that genre?
Fantasies and mysteries are totally my favourite. I love the fact that in fantasy, we are not restricted to the rules of real life, and the creatures that live in our world, you can put so much more imagination into your own little universe inside your story, and just run with it. I read so much fantasy growing up ( and still do), it is hard to pinpoint an exact author responsible for it. C. S. Lewis was one author, J R R Tolkien, Suzanne Collins, etc.
What are some of your current projects?
My latest project is my own take on the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood. I’m hoping this short story will be a new perspective on the classic tale, and when you read the normal version, you will be able to see who is the real wolf.
Your writing sounds amazing, is there anywhere we can read it?
Thank you! I do have one short story of mine on a blog, and you can find it at this link: (discerntolearn.com) This was my first ever finished short story, published by the teacher who ran that course that was mentioned earlier.
Do you have any resources for writing that you’ve found useful?
Yes, I have an obsession with the names of my characters, and must know the meaning of the name before I give it to any character, so often the meanings will reflect their personalities in some way, and I found a good name generator that includes the meanings of tons of names! Character Name Generator • The ULTIMATE Bank of 2,000,000+ Names (reedsy.com) This website has helped me many times for name selection, and has several other generators available for free. I also use Dictionary.com, and Thesaurus.com for interesting adjectives and meanings of certain words. These would be the top 3 sites I use most in my writing.
Thank you so much Addie!
Of course! Thank you very much for hosting me on your blog and taking the time to do an interview with me!
